US Futures Trending Lower, Investors Await Yellen’s Comments

Asian markets were mixed but Europe is struggling to find green as US Futures are trending lower.

The Hang Seng Composite and Shanghai Composite Index each gained about half a percent today as Nikkei shed nearly a third of a percent. For the week, the Japanese market picked up the most among peers with a gain of 1.5%. Hang Seng and Shanghai rose 0.8% and 0.43%, respectively.

Europe has been in the red all morning as uncertainties related to Ukraine continue to linger. Investors there will be paying attention to Mario Draghi and Mark Carney’s comments regarding interest rate hikes or continuing stimulus. The CAC 40 is losing the most in the current session, with the index lower by over 0.8% as of the time of this report. The German DAX is lower by more than 0.5% while the FTSE 100 is lower by about 0.1%.
